What I Shed Today

Nimue takes the bronze for today’s shed. (I reserve a shinier medal only because she’s preparing another than I predict will put her on the podium’s top step.)

I started a good one too, but all I completed was removing 1.2 inches of icy slush off the driveway. Though truly Brothers Sun and Wind began and finished the job.

What a wonderful gift solar energy is.

Living in the US Southern Piedmont for as long as we have, it’s a wonder I found a snow shovel in the tool room. Though when we moved here from the Midwest, four came with us: “hers,” “his,” and two cute mini-shovels we kept in the car trunks. (“Boots” in the Queen’s English, whose speakers also are coping with extreme weather this winter. An informed friend attributes it to “global weirding.”)

Back to today’s shed: it’s a bedskirt that came in a set I bought when we had a house in one city and an apartment in another. I’m not certain we’ve ever made up a bed with it. I’m glad the universe includes people who skirt their beds. To Goodwill it goes in the hope they will find it there.
