What I Shed Today

lightening up a little at a time

old computer cables

on March 4, 2014

I’ve posted twice already today but haven’t yet shed … I need an easy one ’cause my head’s been commandeered by either a mild flu or history’s worst cold. What’s available in the home office closet? Ha! Surely there’s some outdated hardware in the computer cables box.

at least it was chaos contained ...

at least it was chaos contained …

Oh, nooo! Snakes!

Shedding: four 120v-AC power cables in three different colors; two old-style Dell laptop power cables; seven IDE drive cables; a floppy drive cable; various four-pin motherboard connector cables; a piece of telephony I couldn’t identify; and a USB rear panel bracket (huh? six ports weren’t enough?).

Keeping for now: one floppy drive cable (because, you know, I might get around to archiving the data off those old floppies); one mini-USB connector (you can never have too many, or something); a laptop drive interface connector (that $3 purchase saved Nimue’s dissertation); an HDI cable (because, somebody help me, we might need it someday); and a parallel port printer cable (because that’s real gold on those contacts).

Muffin thinks, "They look like strings. Are we gonna play 'string'?"

Muffin thinks, “They look like strings. Please may we play ‘string’?”

On second thought, the parallel port printer cable can go.

The cat’s a keeper.
