What I Shed Today

carrot spread knife

on April 2, 2014

I think we received the little carrot knife our first Christmas after we married. It has survived a dozen purges of that which we don’t know to be useful because I’ve pled that it’s cute. “It’s just right for serving a cheese ball,” I say. On cross-examination, Nimue retorts, “And how often do we do that?”

As I strengthen the habit of honest answers to such questions, I’ve arrived where I may meekly reply, “Not even once a year.” But surely some cream-cheese whiz, a mistress or master of spreads, dwells in our town who would want, nay, who needs this knife. May she or he find it at Goodwill.

Percy thinks the carrot knife would be more interesting with Jamie Oliver's smoked mackerel pate.
