What I Shed Today

day two of the WIST chair shed-a-thon

Previous occupants left this chair behind in a house we moved into. (There’s a somewhat cowardly yet effective shedding strategy!) It’s not especially antique because the parts are machine-turned. The slots in the screws look hand-cut, though. It might well be older than I am, so I’ll treat it with the respect due an elder and try to strengthen its infirmaties before I post it to craigslist.

I used the horizontal surface of the seat as a bedside table for awhile, but its back has too much play to trust for sitting.

shedding style: resell
destination: craigslist

Comments welcome … for an artifact, age is often an aspect of charm, perhaps even beauty, though aging may reduce utility. Which do you value more, beauty or use? About what things and sorts of things?
